Freelance

Hire me.

I'm Byron Johnson, a freelance full-stack web developer and AI-native builder. I ship production SaaS, and I improve sites that are already live: architecture, authentication, SEO, GEO, and deployment.

Fifteen-plus years in the industry. I use Claude, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor as development partners, with context documents, agentic rules, and skill libraries, so client work moves faster without losing the constraints that keep a product sound.

  • 15+ years Industry experience, now applied to production SaaS.
  • AI-native Models as partners, guided by project context.

01 / Services

What I deliver for clients

Bring the problem. I ship a Next.js SaaS or improve a live site in its current architecture, including the SEO and GEO layer search engines and generative engines both need.

  • New web app or SaaS

A full-stack Next.js product: authentication, database, and deployment. Built as a product you can ship, not a prototype that stalls at launch.

  • Improve existing sites

Fix or improve the site you already have, in the architecture it uses today. No rewrite required.

  • SEO-first content site

Programmatic hub architecture, structured data, dynamic sitemaps, and IndexNow.

  • GEO / AI search visibility

llms.txt, AI-optimized content structure, and schema markup for generative engines.

  • Performance

Core Web Vitals analysis through PageSpeed Insights and Lighthouse, then the remediation that moves the scores. Page speed optimization, including WordPress, is its own engagement.

  • Design system & tokens

CSS custom properties, Tailwind CSS v4 theme tokens, and Figma variable exports.

  • AI-augmented development

Agentic context systems that make iteration faster and safer as the product grows.

  • Privacy-conscious products

Client-side processing when the work belongs in the browser, with no unnecessary data collection.

02 / In production

Bring the site you already have

Next.js, React, and Vercel are the tools I reach for on a new build. A site that is already live can stay on its architecture. I use the same skills to find the problem and fix it in place.

  1. Core Web Vitals

    The pages are slow

PageSpeed Insights, Lighthouse, and CrUX field data. I trace the script, image, layout shift, or server response that is costing the score, then fix that path in the stack you already ship.

  2. SEO and GEO

Search and AI answers skip the site

Canonicals, sitemaps, IndexNow, JSON-LD, internal links, and llms.txt. These sit on top of whatever renders the page, so a content site, an app, or a legacy template can be found and cited.

  3. HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

    The interface is brittle

Semantic markup, CSS, vanilla JavaScript, and accessibility, including reduced motion. I repair front-end behavior whether the UI is React, another framework, or markup rendered on the server.

  4. Production and testing

    Changes feel risky

I check how the site is protected, and I make sure a change still works before your users see it. Each edit stays inside the way the project is already built, so a fix does not open the next problem.

  5. Build tooling

    The toolchain is the bottleneck

Multi-page builds, and legacy migration when the build itself is what is stuck. The goal is a working release, not a forced move onto a new framework.

03 / Method

How the work stays accurate

I keep a structured agentic context system on each project so models can work across a large codebase without dropping the rules that matter.

Context documents

An entry-point for agents, plus an architecture reference that holds stack decisions, integrations, and incident history.

Rules and skills

Always-on constraints and repeatable playbooks for hub pages, product features, and SEO content.

Living inventory

A route and dependency map that stays current, so new work lands on the patterns already in the product.

SEO and GEO reference

Keyword architecture, structured-data templates, and generative-engine rules in one place the work can follow.

I'm currently building production sites using my favorite modern tools:

  • Next.js App Router
  • React 19
  • TypeScript
  • Tailwind CSS v4
  • Clerk
  • Supabase
  • Vercel

04 / Questions

Before you write

What freelance development services do you offer?

I design and ship production web applications end to end, and I also fix sites that are already live. Typical engagements are help on a current codebase in its existing architecture; a new Next.js SaaS with authentication, database, and deployment; an SEO-first content site; generative engine optimization; Core Web Vitals work; design tokens; AI-assisted development systems; and privacy-conscious architecture.

Can you help with a site that is not built on Next.js?

Yes. Next.js, React, and Vercel are what I use for a new build. If your site is already in production, I work inside that architecture. I use Core Web Vitals analysis, technical SEO and GEO, semantic HTML and CSS, vanilla JavaScript, accessibility, security headers, and tests to resolve the issue without a rewrite.

What stack do you use for production SaaS?

I am currently building production sites with Next.js App Router, React 19, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS v4, Clerk, Supabase, and Vercel.

Can you handle SEO and generative engine optimization?

Yes. I build technical SEO, programmatic hub pages, JSON-LD, dynamic sitemaps, IndexNow, Core Web Vitals, and GEO files such as llms.txt so both search engines and AI answer systems can cite the product.

How do you use AI on client projects?

I use Claude, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor as development partners. Each project gets context documents, agentic rules, and skill libraries so iteration stays fast without dropping project constraints.

How do I hire you?

Send a message through the form on this page with your name, email, and what you need built. I will reply back by email.
